John & Benny loaded winter squash into storage

Well, here we are, the end of another growing season!  Wow that went fast.  We still have loads to harvest for storage and hours of field clean up left, but I am already scheduling meetings and making plans for next year!  The cycle continues with the seasons.  It’s kind of funny looking through photos from year to year.  They are the same but just as special.  For example, I have almost this exact picture from last year, but it includes Kira (a 2024 employee) instead of John (a 2019-2025 employee).  We keep an album on our kitchen counter from the year before and flip the pages as we go through the months.  The photos are wonderful reminders of events from the year before — even it was growing abundant peppers, getting the baby turkeys, and winter squash harvest — the same thing we are doing in the current year….it’s still a pleasant comfort of continued abundance and light.

We hope YOU felt some of that abundance and light being a part of Little Ridge Farm this year!!  As a shareholder, you too, are a part of the continuing cycles.  Every year is the same; consistent abundance, but fresh and new.  A renewed appreciation for challenges, accomplishments, community and bounty.  Food is a staple for all humans and we here are continuously amazed at the power one teensy seed has; the quantity it produces, the number of bellies it can fill.  It’s also amazing the power a community can have — supporting one another to keep everyone and the land lifted.  If you have extra to share in this moment for those who are struggling, consider purchasing extra.  This purchase will allow us to give double the value in food to a community member.  Consider it a Random Act of Kindness, a way to Pay it Forward when you are able.  A way to keep your community thriving with healthy eating and less stress.

Happy Halloween!

Last week, this farmer celebrated her 50th birthday.  I certainly don’t feel a half a century old, but small things remind me I am indeed aging, lol.  I spent a lovely weekend with girlfriends on the ocean, carving pumpkins and soaking up the fall weather.  Grateful in so many ways.

THANK YOU for your support of Little Ridge Farm.  We appreciate you and couldn’t be here without you.  We hope to see you for our nourishing Winter Share!!!
