oh happy day! The piggies got a new home with lush grass and lots of shade. For their first move, they all did very well. I had to make 2 trips with the trailer, as one deiced not to go on the first route. But he jumped right in when I came back, “where are my friends?!” Benny was very excited to help herd them, luckily the pigs are pretty non phased by him, but we put him in the truck just in case; no fun to round up pigs when they startle! Visit them in the back field by the raspberries, they love visitors.
We have been SOAKING UP this cooler, cloudy weather for transplanting. It’s late July! Time to get some of the last of the plantings in before fall. Yep. Fall is coming quicker than a fox. My brain still thinks it’s June, but I have to force myself to look at the calendar. Most crops take over 3 months to grow from seed to finish, so there’s lots of planning ahead. It’s also the times of year where tomatoes! Peppers! and Melons! begin to ripen so we are in full on harvest mode (AND still weeding). This time of year, it’s even harder to get everything on the list done in a day. There’s fun crabgrass to weed, if anyone wants to hang out in the fields for an hour, let me know : )
Farm yoga has been a Monday evening tradition for nearly 4 years now, a treat for our employees and close friends of the farm. Usually we do it outside, but since it was raining last night, we did it in my barn. In the cooler evenings, we wrap up burrito style during Shavasana (the ending relaxation pose). Benny decided to take advantage and relax too after his long busy day of hunting and keeping the farm safe.
Ok I am off, lots still to do!!! See you soon.
