Cheerio!

A couple years ago I had planted some sunflowers at the end of a couple fields. We enjoy the sunny flowers throughout the season along with all of the pollinators. Then the birds and rodents have a special fall treat. A few seeds slip past the birds and rodents and reseed themselves, and now three years later, we still have these happy volunteers all over the farm!

blueberry theives

Well if we hadn’t caught these ladies eating our blueberries red billed, their blue poop would have given them away! They have curious little bills, putting nearly everything in their mouth to try; leaves, bugs, pant legs, shoe strings….. Apparently blueberries are one of their favorites as we often find them dining in the evening on them — if they would only take the ones that have fallen to the ground though and not off the bush!

garlic harvest

This time of year is the last push before the days get too short: harvesting, weeding and transplanting. The rain definitely gave a much needed boost to plant growth and we are harvesting in profusion almost every day. It’s a wonderful “problem” to have and we are grateful for the abundance. Hoping you are enjoying it too!
