It’s berry season! And Maine has a glorious selection: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, elderberries …. I will admit that strawberry season is my favorite, but I really love picking any berries and so am looking forward to relaxing evenings spent in the raspberry patch.

We are SO HAPPY with the rain and the plants are responding beautifully. Of course we are not wishing for more rain at this point, but hoping for a nice balance of sun and moisture! The weeds are happily growing too, but we mow the pathways once a week and I sort of like the soft grass keeping the soil in place rather than clumping 3″ thick to the soles of our shoes. I am still a pretty “tidy” farmer, but letting some the “ocd” go with weeding has been a relief. Oh I am still in battle but not on the front lines all the time anymore : )
